A Cosy Café in Johor Bahru Serving Tasty Shakshuka and Creamy Tiramisu
Johor Bahru is a cafe lover's dream - every district is lined with countless cafes, from places like Keijometo to 3littlechef, one of our personal favourites.
We were invited for a tasting, but we've actually visited multiple times before and have a soft spot for their creamy tiramisu. They said that they have a new menu, so we visited to check out some of the new food and drink items.
Upon stepping into the cafe, we were immediately greeted by the familiar and cosy interior lined with warm lighting and cute plushies.
In addition to their cute teddy bears scattered all over the cafe, they also sell cute, vegetable-themed plushies. How adorable!
This is what we ordered:
Shakshuka with Focaccia Bread
💸 MYR 28
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟 5/5
I'll say this first: I love tomato-based dishes! This was cooked really well with just the right level of seasoning. Bubbling hot with poached eggs that burst open when we dipped the warm, airy focaccia bread into it... this was super appetising and highly recommended.
Note that sometimes, some places like to serve their shakshuka towards the spicier side, which I don't usually enjoy, so this was perfect for me as it was on the milder side of spiciness.
White Coffee
💸 MYR 14
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.5/5
This is easily among the nicer café lattes we’ve had. Buttery smooth, nutty and chocolatey, it's always been consistently delicious during all our visits.
Iced Tiramisu Latte
💸 MYR 17
⭐⭐ 2.8/5
We love their Tiramisu, and seeing how there's a new drink on the menu - Iced Tiramisu Latte - we were excited to give it a try.
Unfortunately, it was too sweet for my liking as a drink. Personally, I would recommend the café latte as a drink and tiramisu as a standalone dessert instead.
Potato Rosti
💸 MYR 28
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.5/5
This is another item that we tried for the first time. I immediately thought "this is a flavour bomb" when I took my first bite. Two pieces of crispy potato and carrot rosti drizzled with well-made, non-cloying hollandaise sauce, this is another appetising dish.
The only thing is we wished the rosti could be just a bit crispier.
Tiramisu
💸 MYR 15
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟 5/5
Our personal favourite from past visits! Their tiramisu leans towards the creamier, dairy side - it has more mascarpone cream than usual, so it's fluffier and milkier. Hence, it might not be everyone's preference for tiramisu, but it's right up our alleys. It's very soft and not too sweet, and is consistently delicious every visit as well.
We knew from past visits that tiramisu is our favourite from this cafe, but we were delighted to find that there are other menu items that meet the same standard as the tiramisu as well. Just a 10-minute drive away from the Johor Bahru immigration customs, this is a cafe that you won't want to miss after crossing the border from Singapore. In addition to this outlet, there is also another in Paradigm Mall and in Sutera.
Don't forget to try the tiramisu during your visit!
