If you like quick, fuss-free take-out snack spots like Shihlin Taiwan Street Food or Old Chang Kee, you won't want to miss this one that specialises in Korean food - perfect for you're shopping in Suntec City!

Exterior of Sotbox in Suntec City

Located at the basement level of Suntec City, Sotbox sells classic Korean snacks like tteokbokki, kimbap, fried chicken, and more. However, seating is limited - there are only 3 small tables in front of the store, so it's ideal for takeaway.

On weekdays (11.30am - 5pm, excluding public holiadys), they also offer Lunch Special Half & Half Box at $10.80 - perfect for those working nearby who want a quick meal with fried chicken and kimbap.

Here are the food and drinks we tried:

Beef Bulgogi Kimbap, K-Fried Snacks, Tteokbokki, Sweet Garlic Fried Chicken, Jeju Blush and Lemon Kombucha drinks

Tteokbokki

Korean spicy rice cakes with fish cakes, onion, and spring onion
💸SGD6.50
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

Let's start off with a classic: Korean rice cakes, or tteokbokki. Chewy, appetising, and addictive - the tteokbokki here is delicious, and it comes with some sliced fish cakes. Note that it is on the milder side, perfect for someone whose spice tolerance is low, like me.

Beef Bulgogi Kimbap

Beef Bulgogi Kimbap

Korean rice roll with seaweed, beef bulgogi, cucumber, carrot, egg, burdock, and pickled radish
💸SGD10.50
⭐️⭐️⭐⭐️ 4/5

The Beef Bulgogi is a bestseller here, and I can see why! It's rich in both flavour and texture, and I appreciate the balance -- you get the sweetness from the eggs and carrots, tanginess from the pickled radish, and savouriness from the beef bulgogi. The pickled radishes also adds a nice crunch. My only wish is that the beef bulgogi portion in the kimbap was bigger.

Sweet Garlic K-Fried Chicken (topped with snow cheese and tteokbokki)

Sweet Garlic K-Fried Chicken (Add-On: Snow Cheese and Tteokbokki)

Korean-style crispy boneless fried chicken glazed with sweet garlic sauce
💸SGD10.50 (Not inclusive of $1.50 for add-on)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️️️ 4.5/5

This was our favourite among all the snacks! Bite-sized chicken pops glazed with a sweet and savoury garlic sauce. Note that the garlic taste is quite strong.

It's delicious on its own, but if you top up $1.50, you can add tteokbokki and snow cheese toppings, which makes it even more of a flavour bomb.

K-Fried Mixed Snacks
Crispy fried squid from the K-Fried Mix

K-Fried Mix

Crispy K-fried platter featuring potato, lotus root, squid, dumpling, and crab stick
💸SGD6.50
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5

The K-Fried Mix offers a variety of fried vegetables and seafood such as squid and tater tots. While I like the variety of fried snack choices, they're not super mind-blowing. We tried dipping them in the tteokbokki sauce, which elevated the snacks!

Jeju Blush and Lemon Kombucha drinks

Jeju Blush

Jeju hallabong soda with hibiscus tea
💸SGD5.50
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️️️ 4/5

Lemon Kombucha

Crisp citrus kombucha with light fizz and a clean finish
💸SGD5.50
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️️️ 4.5/5

These refreshing drinks pair well with the fried snacks - they help cut through the greasiness and make the overall meal easier to digest. We enjoyed the Lemon Kombucha slightly more than Jeju Blush, as it's tangier and therefore more refreshing.

Overall, Sotbox offers a variety of Korean snacks here, service is quick and friendly, and I'd return again if I'm in the area and craving Korean fried chicken, tteokbokki, or kimbap.
