A Hidden Japanese-Style Coffee Spot in the West
I probably wouldn’t have found this place if not for tennis.
After a Saturday morning session at ActiveSG stadium in Jurong West, I was craving iced caffe latte. That’s how I ended up at Suzuki Cafe and Roastery, tucked away in an industrial area along Chin Bee Avenue.
Surrounded by factories and warehouse-like buildings, this isn’t the kind of place one would “just happen” to visit. It’s quiet and slightly inaccessible, but that’s also what makes it interesting.
Suzuki Coffee isn’t just a cafe, it’s also a roastery. I've seen their canned coffee drinks in supermarkets before, though I've never tried them. This is where they roast their coffee beans, and likely where they produce their canned drinks as well.
The cafe itself is modest in size: not too cramped, but not very spacious either. Given its secluded location, it doesn't get very crowded. I visited on a weekend morning, and there were plenty of seats available.
The interior leans heavily into a Japanese-inspired aesthetic: wooden tones, minimalist decor, and a small bonsai tree that create a zen-like atmosphere.
This small cafe sits right next to their coffee roastery. Naturally, they specialise in coffee rather than food. They offer a wide selection of coffee bean blends - especially for V60 filter coffee - but only seven pastry options, so do not come here expecting a heavy meal!
PASTRIES AND SMALL BITES MENU:
| Pastry | Price (SGD) |
|---|---|
| Curry Chicken Pie | 8.50 |
| Lychee Rose Pistachio Cake | 12.00 |
| Black Sesame Babka | 5.50 |
| Matcha Canele | 4.00 |
| Sanjuen Dorayaki | 6.00 |
| Caramel Roll | 5.50 |
| Naruto Kintoki Sweet Potato Rustic | 5.50 |
As for coffee, they offer eight different beans, clearly categorised into "Floral/Fruity" and "Chocolatey/Nutty". If you're visiting with someone who doesn't drink coffee, there are also non-coffee options like dirty matcha, chocolate, and tea.
I was craving something cold, so I didn't try their filter coffee this time. I asked the staff for a bean recommendation, and they asked whether I preferred fruity or nutty profiles. I usually lean towards nutty beans, so they suggested either the Chowa Blend or Brazil Santa Alina Arara Natural. At the end, I chose the Chowa Blend.
Iced Latte (Chowa Blend)
Inspired by the Japanese concept of harmony. Has notes of Milk Chocolate, Caramel, Sweet Velvety.
💸 SGD 9 (inclusive of +$1 for iced option)
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.5/5
I’ll be honest: the first sip caught me off guard, and not in a good way.
It was much more acidic than I expected, especially for something described as a nutty and chocolatey profile. I don't enjoy sour notes in coffee, so this taste stood out immediately. The menu listed the acidity at 2.5/5, but personally, it felt closer to at least a 3.5.
That said, I do think choosing an iced latte made a difference, as hot milk tends to bring out more sweetness and mellow the acidity. That could explain why my coffee leaned brighter and sharper than I would've liked.
The staff mentioned that the Chowa Blend is already on the lower-acidity side of their range, so I guess I'm just more used to darker-roasted coffee. They recommended trying the Brazil Santa Alina Arara Natural next time.
There was also a collaboration going on with HOOGA when I visited in March 2026.
If you followed both Suzuki Coffee and HOOGA on Instagram, you’d receive a small set of body lotion, hand cream, and a mini perfume spray samples. The staff were very friendly and even gave me a couple of extra perfume samples in different scents.
Suzuki Cafe and Roastery is a true definition of a hidden gem - tucked away in a secluded industrial area, yet offering meticulously crafted specialty coffee.
Prices are on a higher side for such a secluded location, and food options are limited. Still, as a coffee lover, I am intrigued by their range of coffee beans and would return to try the Brazil blend.
